I just think that Canada and Europe uses us as a scapegoat so that they don't have to look at their own problems. They are also jealous of the attention we get. Just like you said, obviously whatever we are doing now is not working and we are just throwing our money away. We need to change what we are doing and put more money in to basically anything that will make our immune system stronger. Unlike people in poverty we Americans have better sanitation, nutrition, and other sources of care that make our immune system stronger. I do think the United States does somewhat pay attention to global affairs, but I think that more Americans ignore them than pay attention to them. The facts that less front page news is about foreign nations and less Americans are speaking foreign languages shows this. America is a country in which many languages are spoken yet native born Americans are only concerned about English. Also, I think the media could try way harder to inform Americans of the rest of the world by removing the never ending Britney Spears stories and start broadcasting stories that actually matter in today's world.
